If you arrive by train at the main Dresden train station, transfer to line S2, which takes you to the airport hall (cost 2,2€). A taxi journey from the airport to the center of Dresden will cost 20€.

The specialty of Dresden Airport are its guided tours. This is a great tip for a family or a school on a trip. A one to two hour tour will take you into the bowels of the airport and we discover not only aircraft, but also other technical equipment – for example fire trucks. The tour must be booked at least five days in advance. A flight simulator is also available at the airport, where you can try controlling a aircraft yourself.

The airport was opened in 1935. During World War II the airport was used exclusively for military purposes.

The importance of the airport and the number of destinations have gradually grown, prompting other airport modernization. The second terminal was added in 1995 and the current airport hall was built in 2001.
