Neumarkt square was, like Frauenkirche church, destroyed at the end of the Second World War. Then for decades it was empty and was used as a parking lot.
During the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche, reconstruction also began on Neumarkt square. Many buildings regained their baroque facade and thus form a beautiful panorama with the church.
Reconstruction of the square is not yet completed, and in some places you can see current architectural research of the underground space.
Neumarkt is a part of Dresden’s Christmas markets.
